Does your Android Phone really needs to be rooted?

Hi there, this is Aryansh and in this post I'm gonna answer this very question that people come and ask me a thousand times a day.

First of all, Android is a Linux based OS. It is just the same experience that we get on Ubuntu or some other Linux based OS. As you can play around with Linux based systems, you can play around with this too.
Rooting, in simple words, means entering the control room of your phone, where you, will be the controller.
Read more to find out why you should root your phone.
The advantages and the disadvantages.

First of all, you have to ask yourself one question, "What do I need my phone to do?".
there are several advantages of rooting, but the first thing you need to know is that, whenever you root your phone, the phone company won't give you the warranty. Although you can easily UnRoot your phone, but sometimes you can't fully unroot your phone. So I suggest that you root your phone only when your warranty period runs out.

The first thing that you can do after rooting your phone is that you can run special applications. The most popular application is the Superuser application. This application allows you to choose to which applications you want to grant root access and which applications to not.

The other advantage is that it allows you to use you mobile's data plan on your computer  this method benefits you a lot at times when you are out with your, laptop or notebook or netbook or whatever, and you can't find a WiFi hotspot around. It is called tethering. This way if you have a 3G data plan on your mobile and you have a broadband plan in your home, you can cut down the cost on broadband and use your mobile's 3G data plan on your computer and save money.

Another advantage is that you can turn your mobile phone into a WiFi hotspot without having to pay your service provider for the same. This feature/app can save you in occasions when you have multiple gadgets that can connect to WiFi and you need to connect them to the internet. In this way you can save money which you would have spent on your router.

Rooting allows you to store apps in your SD card. This way you can save up the memory in your phone for other things that you may be needing.

It also lest you remove preloaded useless junk apps that you never use and lets you save a lot of memory that all that junk has been using up.

Rooting lets you partition your SD card and use it as internal memory for usage and therefore you can store more apps and other things.

And the most powerful feature of rooting is that you can install custom ROMs on your device. There are hundreds and thousand of custom ROMs available now a days and you can choose any of them and customise the way your Android device looks like i.e change the UI of the phone. This feature is very useful for people who are sick of Samsung's TouchWiz.

And its not just this much, you can overclock your phone, underclock it, increase battery life, etc....There are a lot of things you can do when your phone is unlocked or rooted, but do you know the risks and disadvantages of rooting your phone? Let's check them out.

The first disadvantage is that it voids your warranty and I have already told that.

The second disadvantage is that it involves the risk of bricking your phone. Once your phone is bricked, it is just a useless piece of plastic or aluminum. You can't do anything with your phone once it is bricked, nothing at all. You'll be feeling pity after you have bricked it.

The other risks are very less, as they depend on how you use your phone, what is the hardware of your phone and what custom ROM you have put inside it. Your phone's performance may degrade or your phone can get viruses. But these things depend on how you use your phone and from where you download your custom ROM and which anti - virus program/app you have put inside your phone.

That's it for now...
