Apple iPhone 5: A quick review

Hi there, this is Aryansh and in this post I'm gonna tell you about the Apple iPhone 5.

iPhone 5, that's what all the craze is about. My friends have recently been telling me to do a review of the iPhone 5, but how could I do it when I haven't really used the phone. I'm not even planning to buy it. But since there was a lot of pressure from their side, I decided that I will do it with all the information present on the internet about it.
I'm not actually reviewing it, I'm just presenting my views forward on whatever I can find on the internet.

Apple has finally come up with a new display and they have changed many traditional things that we have seen in the previous versions. Rumors and possibilities are that things happened due to the absence of Steve Jobs. Anyways we are not gonna go deep into that thing.

The first thing is that, Apple has finally changed something that it didn't from the start. The screen size.
Apple's new iPhone 5 sports a 4 inch screen now. This makes gaming more comfortable and you don't have to worry that the screen items will be unreachable and all that because Apple's new thumb ad shows how it works fine with your thumb.
The display resolution is 1136 X 640 pixels and 326 pi which I guess is great in my opinion.

The other thing is that it is true 4G LTE, and that is way faster than other network connection that we have seen earlier. There are three versions of this LTE connection Sprint, Verizon and AT&T and we are gonna get the GSM version of this rather than the CDMA.

And the same like everytime, it is available in two colours, the Black and White. The band that you get with the White version will be Silver and the band we get with Black will be Slate coloured i.e a mixture of Black and Silver.

The design is kind of the same that we have seen in iPhone 4 or 4S. The same straight sides and all that, but this time the bevel is a bit different. It is now a lot taller and is slimmer than the iPhone 4 & 4S. The width is the same. On the back it has is brushed aluminum as a band which is scratch resistant I believe. And as it is brushed it shouldn't show any fingerprints.

The camera is a 8 Megapixels shooter and now it has the sweep panorama functionality. Other things are the same the flash and all.

Unlike the previous versions of the iPhone this one needs a nano SIM. I guess that's done to accommodate everything in a very little space.

The iPhone now has the lighting connector, again to save space, and it has the 3.5 mm Jack next to the lightning port. I'm a bit disappointed by the connector as it is an USB 2.0, I expected Apple to give a 3.0 but that too is fine. The good thing is that it is double sided so you can put it either way.

The ear pods are new and they are specially designed like the ears you know, they are not round because the part of ear where the ear pods go is not round and all that stuff. They just fit perfectly inside your ear. So you don't have to worry about them falling when you are jogging or running or whatever.

The iPhone 5 is a little bit thinner than the iPhone 4S and it is very light now, it is just 112g.

It ships with the iOS 6 and it has many new features for which I'll make a separate post  and tell you how it is. Apple Maps suck anyway.

The Facebook integration is good now, you can directly tell Siri to update your status or something like message someone. Check In and a lot of things are there you can do with that.

It has the 16:9 aspect ratio so it'll be just like watching your LCD TV in a smaller size with a better resolution.

Siri has improved a lot now, it understands more accents and does more stuff.

The camera takes burst shots now a lot faster, that has been made possible by the new GPU which is much faster than the previous one. Also it has a 1 GB RAM now which let's you multi - task seamlessly.

The front camera shoots 720p and it has been improved a lot in my opinion and the colour quality also has been improved.

There is the new iBooks which is a free download to read your books and stuff. eBooks apparently.

The App Store has been updated a lot and it is more or less inspired by the Google Play store and we see a lot of features from the Android phones in the iPhone 5 this time.

The YouTube app is not preloaded anymore so we have to really go to the App Store and download it to use it.

The Battery life is not compromised you can go to their site for more information on that.

I didn't explain much as this was a quick review. I had to do the quick one because I haven't even used the iPhone 5 yet. I'm really sorry for that. But will be doing the full in-depth review of the iPhone 5 as soon as I get to use it.

That's it for now....

  1. Just switched across from Samsung S3 and so much better experience. With both Apple/Samsung/Blackberry it really is just a case of the users preferences. I prefer the ease of use of the iOS operating system. I've had no problems as yet with the "paint" on the phone coming off or scratching, battery life seems to be fine-with regular usage of apps and games etc i do have to charge once a day but its a smartphone, its what its there for!
Truly brilliant experience overall-cannot find fault with it (yet!).
