Almost every Father or Mother don't want their kids to watch some explicit content on the Internet or waste their time on Social Networking Sites. Here's a great technique for all those who don't certain people to access certain sites without having to deal with the mess of downloading softwares and all that stuff.
Explicit content is increasing day by day on the Internet, and there is no way by which we can stop it from growing. Explicit content drives kids away from their focus and leaves deep impacts on children's mind, they don't realise it now, but sooner or later they will be dealing with many problems. They start lacking in academics, sports and any other thing that requires mental work. It also makes them lazy, they may not realise it, but it really does.
If not anything explicit, then they waste their time on social networking sites doing nothing but useless things like talking to strangers and all that. As they are not mature enough, they can easily get fooled by any person on and maybe they can get threatened also. Cyber Bullying is increasing at the same rate as the internet connections are. For kids, these days, it is not safe to surf the internet. Parents don't have the time to monitor them when they are on the internet, but the computer can always monitor their activity and control which site to block and which site to not.
Here is a very interesting trick, rather a technique, to block websites without using any software and probably the kids wont even get to know about it.
Sadly this trick only works on a Windows computer but we'll soon find a way to do this on a Mac.
First, go to the drive in which Windows has been installed.(In many cases, including mine, it is on the C:\ drive)
Then, find and open the folder named 'System32'.
In this folder, open a folder named 'drivers'.
And in this folder, open a folder named 'etc'.
And in this folder, right click the file named 'hosts', select open with, and in the Dialog box, select Notepad.
Having done that you must see something like this:
127.0.0.1
Under this, type 127.0.0.2
And you are done!
You can add multiple sites by just changing the last digits....
Eg:
127.0.0.1 facebook.com
127.0.0.2 orkut.com
127.0.0.3 yahoo.com
Now save this document and then you won't be able to access the sites you have blocked.
*Remember, don't save it as a text document*
